Amy Webb heads Webmedia Group, a digital strategy agency that solves complex strategic and operational problems related to disruptive technologies and emerging digital trends that are driving major changes across many industries. Recently, she worked with the City of Chicago to redesign every aspect of its modern library system for the 21st century. She co-founded her Spark Camp, her 501(c)(3) invitation-only work group that brings together the brightest minds in media and technology on a quarterly basis. Prior to founding Web Media Group, Amy was a reporter/writer for Newsweek (Tokyo) and The Wall Street Journal (Hong Kong), where she covered emerging technology, media, and cultural trends. She has written for The New York Times, NPR, The Economist, and many other publications, and appears regularly as a commentator on numerous broadcast programs. Amy originally attended the Jacobs School of Music to study classical clarinet, and later she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in political science. She also received her master’s degree from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. Amy has served as an adjunct instructor at the University of Maryland, Temple University, the University of Tokyo, and the University of the Arts. Her new book, DATA: A LOVE STORY: How I Gamed Online Dating To Meet My Match, was published in January 2013 and has been featured in People, Good Morning America, The View, Marketplace, The Wall Street Journal, CNN, The Guardian, Wired, Elle Magazine, New York Times, Washington Post, Time Magazine, and more. DATA shows how Amy uses data analysis and smart digital marketing strategies to bring her online dating profile to the top and then turn that algorithm to her benefit (finding her husband) We record whether we have built a framework to utilize it.
