Check out the best new fonts being released in March 2024. New fonts are often released at a discount, so now is the perfect time to grab some just-released fonts from font foundries. Some of these typefaces are up to 60% off, and certain fonts are even available to download for free.
First up is a professionally designed font called Garrison, a lovely modern sans serif with a humanist style that’s a bit like the classic Gill Sans. This font is packed with 21 fonts in a variety of weights and styles, plus it’s currently 60% off as part of our launch sale.
Next up is a great looking new condensed sans serif called Entropia. It’s a family with a bunch of styles, including a fairly rare backslant version, to cover those rare occasions when you want to use italics but slant them the opposite way. The full collection is pretty pricey at nearly £300, but you get three versions for free. You can also combine it with the Regular, Bold, Black and Heavy fonts to create your own bundles which are more cost effective.
Petrov Sans is another highly acclaimed new release. This modern sans serif has a fairly futuristic look and comes in 19 different styles, from Thin and Extra Light to Black and Extra Black. It’s currently on sale for 60% off.
Greater Neue Condensed…pronounced NOIER… is a lovely new industrial style condensed sans serif that is perfect for my tastes. I would only use it in heavy bold, all caps for logos and headlines, so the £200 list price is probably not worth it to me, but the Greater Neue Condensed Heavy font is available separately for free.
Script fonts have been on trend for a few years now, but this new Retro Script font, The Original, stands out with a rather unique style. Based on the inscriptions of vintage car badges, it’s much slimmer than other scripts and comes with a wide selection of elegant swashes that let you fully customize the look.
Font Duo saves you the trouble of finding two typefaces to pair together. Hajime is the perfect combination of a bold condensed sans serif and a script font. You can use them separately for your regular design work or combine them to create cool quote art. With a discounted price of $10, it’s definitely worth adding to your collection.
Brush Script is a hand-lettering style that takes full advantage of SVG font technology. SVG fonts like the new Beast Mode allow you to include the authentic texture of hand-lettering directly into each glyph, rather than simply making the letters into letterforms. Some of Sam’s fonts from Set Sail Studio are favorites that I use often in my library, so I thought Beast Mode, especially with its catchy name, was a must-have addition to my collection.
The name Qumer Pefolijqey is probably not the most memorable font name, but this new script font is one to remember when you need a scripted monoweight typeface. With 363 glyphs consisting of multilingual characters and several ligatures, you can display any word you want. This is one of the few fonts included in this roundup from Envato Elements, so if you’re a member like me, you can download it as part of your subscription. Check out the link in the description and sign up for the largest creative library.
Millaris is another font with good multilingual support, but we chose it for this roundup because of its beautiful design. It is described as a modern retro serif. Although it doesn’t come in any other weights or styles, it does have a good selection of alternative fonts and ligatures, making it perfect for logos and editorial titles.
Kirgina is a Modern Condensed Sans with a cool and unique style. It has very high contrast in letter shapes and angles, making it more of a display font, but it comes in a variety of styles from Light to Extra Bold. This is another font available for download from Envato Elements.
Brickers is a very thin condensed sans serif with no additional weights, but some ligatures allow this font to be transformed into quirky and unusual layouts that can create great logos and quote art. An inline version is also available, but honestly, you’ll save money by purchasing the main regular version and applying your own strokes.
Brucken is also a brush script, but with a bolder look and simple swoosh, it’s closer to the style of popular brush script fonts. There are many brush scripts of this type, but the best ones include many style alternatives so you can tweak it to perfectly fit your words. Brucken has a lot to choose from.
If you already have a classic Swiss neo-grotesque font like Helvetica, Univers, or Akzidenz, there may not be much reason to spend $360 on Solidus Open, a new-for-2024 product, compared to the timeless typographic icons of centuries past. But look closely and you’ll find a very cool feature: open terminals that give it a very cool look. And you can choose from 19 different styles, ranging from hairline to black.
Massivemoon is one of those fonts I wasn’t going to include in this roundup because it’s a display typeface, but I really love its retro style. It also has some unique alternate characters that allow you to insert ridiculously long letters. I’m not sure if I need to create a typography layout like this, but the bargain price of just $5 for the main desktop version is the main reason I picked it.
Variable fonts are the latest in typography technology. Instead of having multiple font files for each weight, variable fonts combine them into one. So you can stretch the font to exactly the size you need, and the font will fill the space with the right weight without affecting the face’s proportions. Check out Graveur, a classy-looking serif font that’s perfect for headlines and small book text.
Corsario is another variable serif font, but this time with a more modern style. It was designed with magazine and editorial use in mind, so if you’re in the graphic design field, it could be a great choice for your headlines, especially since it’s easily accessible directly in InDesign via Adobe Fonts.
And to round out this first roundup of best new fonts, we have another variable font from Adobe Fonts: Picholine Antique. It’s a beautifully curved slab serif that offers a softer feel than many other hard slab serif styles. The great thing about the Adobe Fonts library is that not only can you use these popular new variable fonts directly in your software at no extra cost, but they’re also licensed for commercial use.
